Here is our house. For sale at the lowest price yet and the best it has ever looked. It still needs some work but we have done a ton. Here are the things we are the most proud of.

  1. New Kitchen. When we moved in there were 2 cabinets and 7 feet of counter space. Now there are 7 cabinets, 10 feet of shelves above the counter and 25 feet of counter space. We also tilted up the ceiling so that there was more headroom.
  2. New roof. The old roof was covered in moss the new one has Grace Ice and Water Shield on the entire surface and 25 year architectural shingles.
  3. New furnace.
  4. New water heater.
  5. Insulated garage--great for doing work in any season. When the nearby stove gets hot you can open the door, heat the garage and get work done.
  6. Insulation in the kitchen and baby bedroom. The loose fill had fallen and we replaced it with fiberglass.
  7. New bathroom. Thanks to our friend Brian Daniels we have a new bathroom. We went from 5' x 4' to 5' x 9'.

Lots of Changes

We have had a very busy few weeks here. Today we mulched all day. 3 yards spread out on every possible spot that could need mulch. I even tried to push some up onto an ugly wall.

Heidi bought quite a few plants and we added them to the mulched beds. We all know that it isn't a mansion but Heidi and I think it looks better.

Amelia and I took a trip to the hardware store and while she was running around she fell down and hit her head on a low shelf. She screamed and it swelled up but no permanent damage was done. Earlier in the day though she had been bitten by a black fly on the other eye. She subsequently looked like she had spent the day boxing.

I think this is going to be the clincher in selling our house...

Okay, so maybe not the clincher but I'm pretty excited about my craftiness. I painted and stenciled this box at the end of our hallway this week (while lying on my large belly) and got it done in under an hour. I think it looks pretty cool. And light and springy and let's just hope someone else thinks so :)

Hellooo!

Amelia likes to play in her tunnel by standing up straight in it, bouncing around, and then popping out her head and saying "Hi!!!"

She tried to put her new spider boots on Emma, but they just wouldn't stay on... oh so frustrating :)

Redneck Livin'

Since we moved into our house 5 years ago, we have been building a pile of wood that we talked about burning "eventually." But, being who we are, never got around to it. Well, now that we are actually listing and hoping to sell our house, we REALLY had to get rid of it, and didn't want to spend any money on a chipper or someone to haul it away. So, last night, Tom actually burned it. It has made our yard look so much better and it was fun for him to get incredibly dirty....

Yoda guards his daddy. Tom shows off his muddy boots...

And then enjoys a glass of chardonnay by the fire. Nothing like a burn pile and a glass of wine. We do have some class after all...

Dumpster Heaven

We treated ourselves to a large Dumpster Depot dumpster - they drop it off and pick it up and you do the rest. So we've been throwing a lot of stuff out. Tom decided we needed a picture to commemorate the exit of this couch, which has taken up residence in 3 of our 4 downstairs rooms, the back deck, the shed, and the garage, and it has never fit anywhere. We figure if we actually live in a house big enough that requires more couches, we could do the adult thing and just buy a new one.

Yoda decided to join us on the couch one last time...

Happy Easter!

Amelia has had a fantastic Easter weekend:

It started with a fun playdate with her friends - here she is ruling the sandbox.

Climbing trees already... relax anxious family members, Tom is standing right below her holding on to her.

In order to get her into her Easter dress, I had to bribe her with a donut and promise that she could change back into her snowman shirt as soon as we got home (which she remembered and asked for as we pulled back in the driveway...) As you can see, she wasn't happy at first...

But got used to the idea as she sat next to her mom the whale.

These are just too cute!

24.

No, not the tv show 24, but week 24 of this pregnancy!

Things have been going really well -- I am FINALLY gaining weight: 7 pounds last month. Yay very exciting for someone who had gained nearly nothing and was starting to worry. This baby is proving to be very busy and continues to lack cooperation during doctor visits. Last week s/he kept moving away from the heart monitor machine and it took forever to get a heart rate reading longer than 5 seconds. Another appointment in 3 weeks and then things start picking up. I'll be getting lots of extra attention because of my gestational diabetes: extra ultrasounds and twice weekly non-stress tests starting at 32 weeks... I asked if they offer valet parking for women who have to come that often and they said no....

Little Miss Mischief

Amelia was home sick the other day with conjunctivitis and drove Tom crazy all day long. The problem with pink eye is that you are not feeling sick but are not allowed out of the house...

Literally the night before I bought a box of 500 Q-Tips per Tom's request. We had JUST opened it so that we could clean Yoda's ears. Amelia found it and had lots of fun. Apparently it was entirely emptied on the floor in under 30 seconds.

Cheese!!!!
