Two girls

One of these girls is Zoë and one is Amelia. Who is who?

An additional purpose of this post is to remind folks that Amelia did have dark hair as an infant, so we are not yet assuming that Zoë will be a brunette... her doctor says she'll be blonde. We'll have to wait and see!

More visitors

We had a visit this week from Grandpa and Heath. Amelia had lots of fun with them (so did Mom and Dad) and Zoe seemed to enjoy them - she mostly slept :)

Amelia and Grandpa play with her blocks - he would build a tower and she would blow it over.

Daddy and his girls.

They tired Amelia out so much that she fell asleep on the car ride home today with her spiderman toy in her mouth. When I got home I had to pry it out of her mouth because it was lodged between her teeth. haha.

Just being cute

We had indescribable fun at Lake George the last two weeks or so - we arrived home today - Amelia's g-force energy as she raced around the house re-discovering her toys was fantastic; the dog and cats are moping around; Mom and Dad are trying to clean up... Anywho, here are some pictures from our last few days!
Sisters "playing" together on the deck.

One of Tom's goals for the summer was to get a new flag for our flagpole. He accomplished this a few days ago with Amelia's help. She went with him to buy it - and he was hoping it would be a surprise but she shouted "IT'S A FWAG!" when she got home. She was pretty excited to see it flying in the wind.

Our friend Caroline left behind some clothes for Amelia that she had outgrown. Amelia will only wear this rash guard swim suit when she swims and calls it "Caroline's shirt."

Amelia jumps into the water.

Amelia and Daddy cuddle after swimming - we had to force her out of the water because she was shivering.

What Mom and Zoë did while Amelia swam.

Amelia and Zoë with their great-grandmother at a cocktail party.

At the same party, Amelia crossed her legs and held her drink just like everyone else did - and yes the dress was off within a few minutes.

Why younger children are much more easy going than their older siblings... I had to put her down to help Amelia, she was sleeping and there wasn't anywhere else but this truck. She didn't seem at all bothered by it...

A Great Day with Amelia

We had a great day today!

Amelia and I went on a boat ride up to the Narrows. And then she took a fun nap.

When I went up to check on her I saw that her bed was empty.

She was sleeping beautifully but...She had moved all of her things to Aunt Becky's bed.

Daddy, daddy, daddy!
This from Amelia who was running toward me as I arrived from a 3 day trip home to work.

A friend jumps from the dock.

Look at this cool dive!

A fun celebration for Carol & Winter

Last weekend we had the fun pleasure of attending a celebration for our Lake George family friends, Carol and Winter Horton, both of whom died this past year. (Yes, Zoe is named after Winter and I have been meaning to write about that, but haven't gotten around to it..stay tuned). Anywho, Carol and Winter were lovers of the lake and so it was perfectly fitting that we had festivities planned in their honor. There was a cocktail party on Friday, an evening of toasts from the dock on Saturday followed by a classic wooden boat parade, and then a sailboat regatta on Sunday morning. It was fun to have everyone together and we know that Carol and Win would have LOVED this party...

Amelia and Zoë wear matching dresses to the cocktail party - being the sleep deprived mother I am, I bought the dress for Zoë in her current size, not one size up, so she will likely not wear it again. Oops. These were intended for Saturday's festivities, but when Amelia saw the dress she insisted on wearing it, which lead our friend Isabella to buy them more dresses for Saturday (perhaps Amelia knew this would happen and thus planned it that way??? :))

Four generations at the Saturday celebration: (Great) Grandmother Perkins, Grammie Perkins, Heidi, Becky, Amelia & Zoë. This fantastic picture was taken in one shot...

Amelia explores the water's edge in her watermelon dress from our friend Isabella - who at the age of 87 went shopping (or was taken shopping) to outfit her new little friends from next door :)

Zoe in her dress from Isabella - late night at the party on Saturday. It was convenient for me that she is still a night owl because I was able to stay up and have fun (Amelia went to bed at her usual time, but made Tom really deserve his gin and tonics because of the enormous fight she put up :))

One Month Old!

Zoë turned one month old this weekend!

We are thinking she weighs about 9.5 - 10 pounds. She eats like a champ, isn't too fussy (minus last night), and sleeps pretty well, even if it's still with me and not by herself. That's okay...we'll get there!

She can hold up her head when we hold her upright (She's been doing this since day 2 or 3, actually...we apparently have freakishly strong girls :)) and she is working on holding it up when she's on her tummy.

Other than that we love her lots and can't imagine our family without her!

Happy One Month Birthday!

Lots of fun at Lake George

Amelia has been having a lot of fun at Lake George since we got here. She's done all kinds of things but has also enjoyed being around her family who she mostly sees just here. She is playing with her "cousin" Caroline and has developed a toddler crush on her, as you will see in the following pictures:

On the big raft with Caroline.

She let Caroline catch her while she jumped off the steps. She would count 1-2-3-4 and then go - Caroline is freakishly strong for a 6 year old and managed to catch her every time.

Then Amelia decided to jump off the dock to Caroline (and Katie)... she did great, but did go under and didn't quite expect it so she got a little scared - but was back at swimming about 3 seconds after this picture was taken!

Our helpers.

Zoe got her first bottle today and took to it like a champ. Amelia never really took to a bottle because we didn't introduce it consistently enough - this time Zoe will have to get used to it because Mom's going back to work a lot sooner than she did w/Amelia. Anywho, Amelia helped out and did a great job.
Carl watches over Zoe

Awake...

Asleep...
So cute and chubby cheeks filling in!
Another good one of Grandma, a.k.a the Baby Whisperer, with Zoë - Grandma did a lot of baby holding and Zoë always liked it (and so did Mommy...)

Grandma and Amelia attempt a timer picture - we like the perspective - and you can still see Amelia's bruise on her right eye from 2 weeks ago at school. We call her "Bruiser."

Amelia made Grandpa exercise his arm muscles during his visit - he swings her at two different local parks...

"Sigh, such a long day and so many changes in my young life."
