Finally we have snow

We got almost 2 feet of snow last Wednesday - Amelia went outside for about 15 minutes. She couldn't take much more because she couldn't walk, it was windy, and cold. We had a fun family day at home together!

Amelia is a true New Englander and goes out into the snow with her trusty umbrella.

She then somehow convinced her father to bring her trampoline outside.

Yoda enjoys his first big snowstorm of the season.

Zoë is finally big and sturdy enough to ride around in the backpack with Daddy. She LOVED it - I think she liked looking down on all of us :)

We attempted to get a picture of Yoda sitting next to Zoë in the backpack - we have a few cute ones of these with Yoda and Amelia. We might have to try this picture again soon...

All Zoë

I couldn't come up with a good alliterative phrase for Zoë like I did with Amelia. If anyone has a suggestion starting with a "Z" let me know.

How can you even attempt to resist this face?????????

Carl strikes again...

Could you ask for a better dog - baby relationship? I really don't think so...

Amelia runs around and has fun with her cousin, Katelyn after dinner. Two cute girls in two cute dresses. I wish we lived closer so she could play with her cousins like this after many dinners...
Double trouble.

Our helpers.

Zoe got her first bottle today and took to it like a champ. Amelia never really took to a bottle because we didn't introduce it consistently enough - this time Zoe will have to get used to it because Mom's going back to work a lot sooner than she did w/Amelia. Anywho, Amelia helped out and did a great job.
Carl watches over Zoe

Awake...

Asleep...
So cute and chubby cheeks filling in!

Carl the dog

Yoda continues his role as resident babysitter. I swear I don't make him pose for these pictures:
Yoda brought Zoë his ball last night - no one would play with him and he went to her as a last resort. She wouldn't play either...

Good News and a cute story.

Amelia loves being outside ("side" as she calls it) and we think she needs some more snow so she can go back to sledding every day at school...

We wonder why she has chapped lips...

Just too cute...

So, we got good news from the doctor today. The blood work I had done last week to test the baby for spinal cord defects (a concern for babies of diabetic mothers, including gestational diabetics) came back negative. We are very relieved even though we weren't overly worried to begin with. We have a level 2 (3-d) ultrasound in 3 weeks and are excited to learn more and see this baby who will be coming before we know it!

Today when I picked up Amelia at school, they told us that when they asked her "Who do you love?" for their "Love List" for Valentine's Day, Amelia responded, "Yoey." All the other kids said mommy/daddy. Amelia loves Yoey. She loves us, too, but we love that she thinks of Yoey during the day, too :)

Heidi holds Amelia in this picture.

What I need you to focus on is the butter knife that Amelia has dipped into the peanut butter. Our human child LOVES peanut butter and when left with an open jar and any implement will ravenously and continuously eat it.

Heidi asleep with computer.
One of my favorites from Halloween. Amelia thinks that Yoda is her dog and she controls him. He normally acquiesces but he is 4 times her weight so occasionally he topples her over. All the same, she loves him and he loves her.

This pretty much sums up Yoda...

Amelia calls him Yoey... we just call him crazy...

Amelia and her dog

Or...Yoda and his baby.

Amelia came to use in March of 2008. And because she was not much of a challenge we got Yoda in Summer 2008. Thus they have grown up together. Because of differing growth rates between humans and canines, Yoda has reached his adult mass in 1 year while Amelia remains quite small proportionally. Given the mass difference one might think that they would have trouble getting along. To the contrary they get along smilingly (as the pictures will show) and if anyone is giving the other a hard time it is Amelia on Yoda--not the other way around.

And just a random video of Amelia in the yard.

Yoda and the window

All of our animals can escape the house--even the 90 pound one.

Fun with Grandma & Grandpa

Amelia enjoyed a nice long weekend visit with her Grandma and Grandpa Crumrine.

She enjoys dragging her booster seat around and sitting in it in odd places...like on top of this coffee table...

Grandpa feeds Amelia some animal crackers...

And then he introduces her to "the worm"

Amelia played with a black marker...as you can see...

And she enjoyed a sink bath.

Two videos:
One for Katelyn
And one of our 85 pound "puppy"

Mr. Mischief

Someone got himself into some mischief today... good thing we're dog people and we find this very funny :)

Our Shetland Pony

Yoda, September 08

Yoda on his new dog bed last week.

I know we mostly focus on Amelia and our marvels at her growth and development, however, Yoda is currently winning the prize for "most changed" in the past few months. He's huge. Nearly 70 pounds and he's only 9 months old. I can't believe he was such a teeny little puppy not so long ago. Not only has motherhood made me get gooshy about my child growing up, it has also made me gooshy about my dog. Sigh...

Lastly, I am trying to get a video of Amelia showing off her new trick: Dancing. It is super cute but not always easy to get on video. So be patient (Rachel, I am trying to get you a video!) and we will hope for tomorrow...
