Fun with Grandma & Grandpa

Amelia enjoyed a nice long weekend visit with her Grandma and Grandpa Crumrine.

She enjoys dragging her booster seat around and sitting in it in odd places...like on top of this coffee table...

Grandpa feeds Amelia some animal crackers...

And then he introduces her to "the worm"

Amelia played with a black marker...as you can see...

And she enjoyed a sink bath.

Two videos:
One for Katelyn
And one of our 85 pound "puppy"

Swimming and Lake George excitement

We arrived at Lake George yesterday and Amelia started swimming almost immediately (similar to Yoda). She shows off her belly in the first picture - oh, and she weighed in at 22 pounds 9 ounces at her 15 month appointment, which places her in the 50th percentile. Average. Just like Mom and Dad!

Amelia adopted this strange stance while standing in the water. We found it very funny.

Here Amelia shows off how she got herself into the strange swimming stance. Oh, and for you safety folks out there (Aunt Laura), Amelia ALWAYS wears a life jacket when she is on our dock, but at this little beach we take it off her IF we are in the water with her. Don't worry! She actually likes the life jacket and has taken it to wearing it around the house and in the driveway. That's fine by us!

And here Amelia enjoys some lakeside dining. You may wonder why we let her get so messy. She is VERY independent and does not like us to help feed her. So, at breakfast and lunch she wears a huge bib or paper towel tucked into her shirt, but at dinner we just take her clothes off and then bathe her afterwards. While we are not neat freaks by any stretch, we did not plan on encouraging our daughter to make enormous messes at mealtime. But, we'd rather she eat happily and make a mess than fight over eating but be clean. Also, Uncle Tom has a special message for our niece Katelyn at the end of this video! ;)

I think this is funny.

Yesterday I was reading a book at Borders about the unique qualities of girls from conception to age 3. According to some study, when babies were observed in utero, boys were more physically active, and girls moved their mouths more. haha. As a teacher, I find this very funny. Not sure if anyone else does, but I wanted to share :)

Here Amelia is holding her two prized possessions: my car keys, that she finds NO MATTER where I hide them, and her floride - she likes to chew on the top...

She looks so old here to me- a little girl not a baby. sigh.

It is unfortunate that the sun was shining so brightly when we took this picture. Amelia is naked and finger painting. She then sat on the puddles of finger paint, and, well, her bath took a little longer that night. In fact, when I left for yoga (I left Tom with her like that!) I said to him as I went out the door, "Make sure there isn't any paint in her vagina!!!" He said that he never thought was something he'd ever hear someone say...

And a video!

Happy Father's Day!

Tom sports his awesome father's day present from me and Amelia - he wore it to church today and got lots of compliments...

Amelia enjoys sitting on this little shelf. Interestingly, we re-painted the kitchen several weeks ago and only recently realized we forgot to paint this spot. Ha!

I wish I could come up with a good caption...

And....we did some major cleaning in our house today because we had a visit from a realtor - which went well. Here are some pictures:

Technology for a 1 year old.

Amelia types on her computer just like Daddy. I found this old laptop while cleaning out a closet and Amelia loves it. Tom was sitting on the couch typing and she went over and wanted to sit next to him with her laptop.

When I was on the phone this morning, Amelia went into the other room, found "her" phone and sat down on her couch and did some talking, too.

Amelia enjoys some tv time - she can handle about 10 minutes and seems to enjoy the down time. (so do I - although normally I sit with her and talk to her about what's on ... something I am sure we'll never do with our subsequent children - haha).

And lastly, I did some organizing and made a corner in our living room just for Amelia. She seems to enjoy it and so far she keeps her stuff over there....

She Speaks

Well our little nonsense yammer-er is starting to make real words. And it's happening fast and some of the words are not words that I ever thought we used a lot...so I wonder where she learns them (like ball and baby). As of now, her repertoire of words includes:

NO
hi
mama and dada (she uses them intentionally most of the time)
ga (dog); da (yoda) - she tends to use these interchangeably
oooof (woof)
rowwww (meow)
baby
ball - today while we were walking outside Concord High she looked up and saw a column outside the school that had a ball shape at the top of it, and she pointed and said, "BA!" I couldn't believe it!
I also think that "da" is diaper because she does it while patting her diaper (and today she did that and then pooped. Like she was telling me... oh and by the way, last night she pooped in the tub for the first time. Ha! Tom was home with her while I was out at dinner - lucky daddy).

we'll keep you updated - when will she start talking BACK?

Swimming in Squam

I am having so much fun!

Despite the cold temperature, Amelia loved swimming in Squam Lake this weekend.

I am trying to make up for not posting at all last week.

I really like playing with my shoes. I like to put other people's shoes on their feet, too.

Stop following me...

Haha I am going to escape!

Happy Happy Family (Yoda, sit still...)

A's new favorite activity is...

playing in the car! It's a great way to make time by go quickly (for her, not me :))

Snuggie Central

So as a joke I bought my sister a snuggie for her birthday. It was a buy one get one free kind of deal, so I got one, too. Now we have matching snuggies. Turns out , they are AWESOME and we spent a lot of time snuggie-ing while at Lake George.

It came in handy nicely when we took Becky waterskiing (she in her wet suit). I was nice and warm in the cold boat...

Tom tries it on but looks kind of creepy - and also a bit like Dumbledore.

Tom and I try to re-enact one of the lame scenes from the Snuggie commercial.

A Snuggie Family. Amelia wants one, too.

Unfortunately it wasn't buy one get two free, or else we could have had one for our mom, too. We loved ours so much that we wouldn't share with her.

Toe Olympics

The only reason that I am posting this video is because it shows my superior toe skills. It is not a very good video and you can feel free to stop watching after witnessing said skills :)

Of course she doesn't keep them on...

...but at least we got a picture.

If you would like to see Amelia's cousin, Matthew, sporting the same look, then click here!
